Today in Pankisi most of couples get married without their parents’ consent. In Pankisi we celebrate weddings in a traditional way. To speak about traditions: the girl and the boy don’t see each other before the end of wedding. The wedding ceremony is at boy’s house. After ceremony the boy’s family members go to the girl’s home. There are prepared traditional foods, lemonades, sweets and sometimes alcohol drinks, but it’s only sometimes.
The last year there were many weddings which were different from our traditional ones.
As time passes, the traditions are changing to modern practices and everything is getting easier and more comfortable.
The boy also is sitting at the wedding table with his wife today, which is different from the past days.
I think that these changes are for a better and easier life.
