Socks made with love by Izardi Kavtarashvili

Every day when I come back home I see the old women knitting. They are talking about their past, how they spent their life when they were young and what has changed. Now, so many years later they are knitting socks for their grandchildren. When I asked who taught them kitting, they said that it’s like a tradition in Pankisi and they said that many years ago their grandmothers too were knitting socks for them. But nowadays no one is interested because there are other ways to get socks. They just go to the shop and buy them, but there are differences. Socks that we buy are less warm, more transparent and they are made with inferior material. This is important, especially in winter, because hand knitted socks keep your feet warm.
