International Scientific Conference “Intercultural Dialogues”: by Mari Kavtarashvili

On October 25-27, 2019 Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University hosted International Scientific Conference “Intercultural Dialogues”, which has been taking place since 2011 and this year was the fifth conference.

On October 26, 2019 with the decision of the conference organizers, with the great support of the Akhmeta Municipality and the selfless and active support of the Pankisi residents, a tour was organized for the participants in the Pankisi Gorge. The participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the history of this region, the local people, their interesting culture and traditions. Especially for the conference guests, the Duisi Cultural Center organized a very interesting concert with the participation of local school children. The evening was filled with positive emotions, which left a lasting impression on the invited guests.

Based on Manana Garibashvili’s words, PhD, Professor, Head of the Representative Board of Telavi State University and the co-organizer of the International Scientific Conference “Intercultural Dialogues”, along with academic workshops, the conference also included a cultural program. Traditionally, conference organizers introduce guests to various parts of Kakheti, their traditions and customs. Until 2019, the participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the history of Tushs and Pshavs, their history and culture. The conference is constantly attended by professors and teachers of all Georgian higher education institutions. The conference is also attended by foreign researchers and scholars from America, Europe and Asia. Among the foreign participants of this year were from America, Japan, Israel, Turkey, Poland, Russia etc. During the conference, participants presented their scientific works and actively shared their experiences in different fields of science.
